consultation + support for educators

Tailored support + learning for childcares, kindergartens and primary schools in Melbourne.

If you’re an education provider dedicated to meeting the social, emotional and behavioural needs of your students and in need of guidance – you’re in the right place!

Educating children can be so rewarding, yet challenging at times.

Perhaps you have:

  • Need for further training and support for staff to provide a more consistent approach to supporting children’s behaviour and wellbeing
  • Had an increase in students with additional needs and would like guidance helping them to thrive in the context of group learning or care
  • Staff who are new to working with children with behavioural, emotional, social or learning challenges
  • Noticed patterns of parenting difficulties that are impacting how children interact when in your care

Regardless of the specific issues, you recognise the importance of investing in the wellbeing of your learning community and are looking for solutions.

Consulting with a psychologist can help.

I adopt a collaborative approach to providing consultation + support for educators in a range of areas, including:

  • Deepening awareness and understanding of how children with a range of specific needs (e.g. high sensitivity, ADHD, ASD, anxiety, etc.) experience education settings
  • Development of skills in evidence-based approaches to supporting children with their behaviour, emotions, and social skills
  • Increasing staff confidence in managing a range of challenges in the context of the classroom
  • Providing parent workshops to educate parents about ways they can support their children’s social and emotional development
  • Helping staff to feel supported whilst navigating the challenges of educational environments

Consultation tailored to your needs

Hi! I’m Natalie

I’m a registered psychologist and founder of Gumnut Psychology. With training in educational and developmental psychology, along with experience as a school psychologist and as a mother of two, I bring a practical, real-world understanding of the challenges and rewards of supporting children’s growth in educational settings.

I design each consultation to meet the unique needs of your community.

My work is grounded in encouragement and positivity. I believe that when we feel supported and understood, we can approach challenges with openness. Together, we build on what’s already working, reflect with curiosity, and develop the skills for meaningful, sustainable progress towards the goals for your community.

learning through workshops

I support educators and classroom parents to nurture children with clear, practical, and developmentally aligned practices.

To get the most out of my training and consultation services, I offer workshops for educators in smaller groups (up to 10 educators at a time) rather than whole staff presentations. Having worked as a DET psychologist, I recognise the value of staff feeling able to collaboratively problem-solve and learn strategies in a safe and empathetic space. It’s been my experience that engagement, supportiveness, and team-work is more easily facilitated in smaller groups.

Workshops for parents of children in your community are offered in larger groups, and can be a great way to increase consistency between supporting children at home and in the classroom.
