Are you an education provider dedicated to meeting the social, emotional and behavioural needs of your students but needing some support and guidance?
Perhaps you have:
- Had an increase in students with additional needs and would like guidance helping them to thrive in the context of group learning or care
- Staff who are new to working with children with behavioural, emotional, social or learning challenges
- Noticed patterns of parenting difficulties that are impacting how children interact when in your care
- Need for further training and support for staff to provide a more consistent approach to supporting children’s behaviour and wellbeing
Regardless of the specific issues, you recognise the importance of investing in the wellbeing of your learning community and are looking for solutions.
Consulting with a psychologist can help.
I adopt a collaborative approach to providing consultation + support for educators in a range of areas, including:
- Deepening awareness and understanding of how children with a range of specific needs (e.g. high sensitivity, ADHD, ASD, anxiety, etc.) experience education settings
- Development of skills in evidence-based approaches to supporting children with their behaviour, emotions, and social skills
- Increasing staff confidence in managing a range of challenges in the context of the classroom
- Providing parent workshops to educate parents about ways they can support their children’s social and emotional development
- Helping staff to feel supported whilst navigating the challenges of educational environments
I tailor the process of consultation to the specific needs of your kinder or childcare and your community.
My approach to support comes from a place of encouragement and positivity: I believe we do the best we can with the resources we have available and that we can rise to challenges with openness, reflection, and making shifts one step at a time.
Workshops
To get the most out of my training and consultation services, I offer workshops in smaller groups (up to 10 educators at a time) rather than whole staff presentations. Having worked as a school psychologist, both school-employed and as part of Student Support Services for the Victorian DET, I recognise the value of staff feeling able to workshop problems and strategies in a safe and empathetic space. It’s been my experience that engagement, supportiveness, and collaboration is more easily facilitated in smaller groups.
Workshops for parents are offered in larger groups, and can be a great way to increase consistency between supporting a child at home and in the classroom.
I’m passionate about helping educators to feel confident nurturing the social, emotional + behavioural development of the children in their care.
How it works
01. Enquire
Contact me to arrange a free, no obligation, 15 minute consultation to discuss your needs. It’s important you work with someone you feel comfortable with, so we chat and see if we’re a good fit to work together.
02. phone meeting
We arrange a ~30-minute phone meeting to discuss the scope of training or support for staff. We clarify your goals and areas of challenge, as well as discuss a timeline that suits us both.
03. WORKSHOPS
I develop professional development or support tailored to your specific needs + goals and deliver this via in-person workshop(s). I am happy to discuss an online alternative if preferred.
04. follow up
After the workshop(s) I provide 2 weeks of email support for troubleshooting issues, answering questions, and providing further resources as necessary.
